The week before finals can strike students with maximum stress. Students begin to worry about their grades, demanding assignments and final exams. In order to assist in reducing that stress, Madonna University hosted “Stress Reliever Week”. This event offered different programs for students to partake in all leading up to the final week.
Day one was on Monday and took place in the Take Five Lounge. Students were offered free coffee with a variety of creamers.
Haley Overholtz, a Nursing student, relies on coffee to get her through the end of the semester.
“The Starbucks on campus can become expensive and I don’t always have the time to stop there in-between my classes. The free coffee in the Take Five was so helpful!” said Overholtz. “I was able to pick up a cup and continue to my next class with ease. And of course, it was great to have something to wake me up.”
Day two consisted of arts and crafts on Tuesday. In the Franciscan Center, students were able to make friendship bracelets, color in adult coloring books, paint, and play with kinetic sand.
Sarah Holten, a forensic science major, found the event fun and relaxing.
“These last two weeks of classes are terrible!” said Holten. “The stress of studying for tests and preparing presentations is enough to drive me crazy. This event was a great excuse for me to step away for a little bit and unwind with my friends.”
On Wednesday, a free slow restorative class with Bonnie Green was offered to students in the university Dance Studio.
Green was excited to work with the students.
“I wanted to help the students here do their best, and that starts was full body relaxation,” said Green. “I remember taking finals and how stressed I was in school, but yoga helped me get through it. I hope all the students do great on their finals.”
