Peace, Pax, Pace, Pokoj, Salaam
Earlier in September at the Madonna University Peace Pole, members of the university community joined with those all over the world on this International Day of Prayer for Peace, to pray for peace "peace to souls, peace in our families, peace to our towns, peace to our cities, peace to our country, peace among nations."
Prayers were prayed in the Christian, Jewish, Native American, Buddhist, Muslim and Hindu tradition.
Among the reflections were:
"If we have no peace, it is because we have forgotten that we belong to each other." (Mother Teresa)
"Do not be discouraged when you do not see the fruits of your labors, do not consider that as a sign that God is not blessing them. You are expected to cultivate and sow and God will give growth and harvest." (Blessed Mary Angela)
"Peace is not something you wish for: it's something you make, something you do, something you are, and something you give away." (Robert Fulghum)
